Often the existing return plenum is not designed or sized for modern equipment CFM and Efficiency Standards which can cause freezing issues, lower efficiency, condensation problems, and shorten the life of a new system. Apart from not being sized properly, more often than not they are not sealed, made of just foam board, and have cracks/holes from prior wear and tear. These issues can cause massive air leaks in the attic keeping your system from running properly and ruining efficiency.
We Install a galvanized sheet metal supply plenum with 1” insulated built onto the inner walls, build a custom insulated transition from system to plenum, cut all new holes for return ducts, Install a new non leak collar for each duct to attach to, and double seal all connections for 0 air leaks.
